The airport benefits residents by:
Contributing more than $63.5 million to the property tax rolls, funding services provided by both Fort Bend County and Fort Bend Independent School District.
Supporting the economic development initiatives of Sugar Land , Fort Bend County and Southwest Houston.
More than 100 Fortune 500 companies utilize the airport on a regular basis.
Sugar Land Regional Airport has been designated as a “reliever airport” for George Bush Intercontinental Airport and Hobby Airport in Houston. In this role, it reduces corporate and general aviation traffic at Houston , allowing Hobby to further concentrate on commercial air travel.
The airport plays a critical role in the region's economic development as it provides an opportunity for corporate executives, minimizing the “chair to air” travel time. Companies selecting the Sugar Land area as their headquarters location cite the airport's quality and proximity as a factor in their decision.
